Miss Mary of Sweden

Today, Miss Mary is a brand exclusively specializing in lingerie and swimwear, still with its own product development and seamstresses. Miss Mary was founded in 1957 by a couple who were dressmaker couple. They designed their own patterns and made them in their own studio in the traditional textile town of Borås in southwestern Sweden, where they established their first clothing company and started local production.

One bra is assembled from about 35 pieces, and bras, which are made up to size 115J, can come in as many as 70 different sizes. In Miss Mary´s studio, designers hand-draw and measure each part of the bra. There can be as many as 2,400 individual pieces in each style! Once the prototypes have been sewn in the studio, they invite women representing each bra size for fittings. A perfect fit is achieved by making necessary small adjustments based on these fittings. However, this is not enough. Before a style is approved for production, dozens of women will wear it for a longer period of time. This ensures that the garment meets Miss Mary´s high-quality standards and won’t wear out or tear with use. If the seams don’t hold up during use, the style will not move forward to production. It’s that simple. Miss Mary has never made compromises. And this is how they intend to operate in the future.
